Calling all music lovers!

St Mary Redcliffe Choir is recruiting! Do you have a son aged 8 to 14 or a daughter aged 9 to 16 who is interested in developing their musical skills?

There is no formal audition to enter – simply come along to a couple of sessions to see if choir is for you.

Here is what one choir parent says: “Our son has been in the choir for over a year and he loves it. The musical training is fantastic – they learn to read music and to sing with other children and adults. They can take national music exams, win awards, and apply for a bursary towards learning a musical instrument. And they even get paid to attend! He enjoys the social life as much as the singing. The boys play football outside before choir practice starts, they have pizza and bowling nights, and once a year they go to Center Parcs for the weekend. He loves being with boys of other ages, and the older boys look out for the younger ones. Everyone is welcome – Christians, people from other faiths or no faith.

I'm Beth, Life Event Coordinator. Over the past few months, we have been busy with baptisms, weddings and funerals. From small wedding blessings with only a couple and a priest present to large affairs with over 300 guests we feel glad to have supported people during key moments in their lives. I've noticed that life event services need cooperation from the whole team at St. Mary's: Cleaners keeping the church spotless; Clergy and Vergers running a seamless service on the day; talented Musicians providing deeply moving music; the Events team rearranging schedules and tours to fit services in the diary; much admin preparation before the day; careful diligence from our Finance Manager to ensure every penny of donations are sent to families charity of choice. The love and care put in by the team here is apparent to me and hopefully reassures you that St. Mary's will be here for you in both the highlights and hard times that you face. Beth Herbert
