St Mary Redcliffe in the Community
We empty a community team which is based in The Hub - Redcliffe Community Centre on Redcliffe Hill. The team works with local residents and organisations, taking an asset-based community development approach to seek new ways to improve community connections and involvement across the whole Redcliffe neighbourhood.
Our engagement with the community is motivated by faith and the call to love our neighbour.
Scroll down this page to find out more about both our Community Development Work and Community Youth Work.

Regular activities
-
We host a monthly ‘workers’ gathering’ for people who work in the local community.Item Link List Item 1
It's a space to network, share ideas and support what is happening locally. It’s attended by community workers, council officers, staff from the local nursery, children’s centre and secondary school, the police, local residents who volunteer their time, youth workers and more. As a result of these meetings we have seen new people working together to put on events, set up new community activities and increase their knowledge about what other organisations are doing locally.
-
We regularly go out door-knocking to meet people who live locally.Item Link List Item 2
On their doorstep, we find out about their experience of life - particularly in Redcliffe, what’s important to them and what their skills and gifts are.
We always meet really interesting people who are happy to share about their experiences and often are looking for more ways to be involved in their community, but don’t know how. On a number of occasions, we have met people who were feeling isolated and have been grateful that someone took the time to knock on their door.
-
We communicate and connect people with what going on within the local areaItem Link List Item 3
We have established some online communications via social media to communicate about what is going on within the area, whether that be local news, events and activities or other opportunities to get involved, such as job openings or volunteering roles.
We promote and celebrate all of this to increase our community’s awareness of what’s happening and invite them to participate.
-
We connect with, and sometimes support, the groups and activities that are already running in the neighbourhood. For example…Item Link List Item 4
Faithspace, Redcliffe Residents' Action Group & Neighbourhood Forum and Redcliffe Lunch Club.
