Windmill Hill City Farm

At Windmill Hill City Farm we want to celebrate the winter season by decorating our tree with natural materials harvested from our gardens and local area. We have been busy collecting acorns, conkers, and pinecones to make 'Nature Treasure Craft Kits'. Our volunteers have been supplied with kits and the kits have also been available to buy for visitors. 

Everyone has been invited to bring back some of their creations to decorate our Communal Christmas Tree. We have been amazed at people's creativity, and so happy to see their decorations appearing. 

This project has given a sense of community and a way to interact with our volunteers when lockdown prevented us from running support sessions. 

Windmill Hill City Farm in Bedminster is a charity that provides recreation, education, and therapy.  It is open to the public and we run gardening and animal care sessions for volunteers as well as supporting local children and vulnerable households to enjoy our site. 

Many people have found a renewed enjoyment in spending time outdoors during this difficult year. Spending time in green spaces such as Windmill Hill City Farm is valuable for our mental health and to feel connected to nature. 

At this time of year, the garden is dominated by colours and textures of bark and seed heads and of fluffy grasses and red berries. We have brought the garden inside with our ‘Nature Treasure’ Christmas decorations.
