Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House Bristol is a small local charity providing free home from home accommodation and support to families with a child receiving care at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. We opened in November 2002 and in the past 18 years have helped over 8,300 families and counting! 

We aim to keep families together whilst alleviating some of the financial strain and inevitable stress that comes with having a child in hospital. We have a 21 en-suite bedroom house situated just up St Michael’s Hill and only a few minutes walk from the Children’s hospital, including family kitchens, laundry facilities and a garden. Our house services families from a 300-mile referral radius covering the entire South West and South Wales as well as local Bristol families. Families can stay with us for as long as they need whether that be days, weeks, months or even in some cases years with our longest staying family leaving after just over 2 years. Unfortunately, the need for our house is never ending and we are always full with a waiting list of families that need our help. 

It costs us £35 per room per night to ensure families have a safe and comfortable place to stay just minutes from their child in hospital. Although we have the same name, our Bristol house is in fact a completely independent charity to the global charity Ronald McDonald House Charities meaning that we have to raise all our own funds through fundraising and donations from our incredible supporters.
