Hydrangea Tree by Sue Haysom
I have a large blousy hydrangea with knicker pink blossoms. It grows in the north east corner of my house. I dislike its voluptuous profusion but nothing else would grow in this gloomy spot. Each autumn I cut off the fading blooms which have turned to lovely shades of mauve and pale green. These colours can be preserved if dried quickly over a radiator.
The framework of my tree consists of a chicken wire cone suspended on the base of an Ikea lamp which was destined for the tip.
My star is made from poppy seed heads, nibbled by junky mice into pretty lanterns
My tree was to have been part of a community forest in St Peter’s Portishead. But alas....
